We have been going to this pub for over 20 years and we would recommend it for some fantastic food and a great setting. In order to set things straight about group bookings the landlady has kindly given us some guidelines for bookings for our guests, as below.
We do not charge a booking fee when individuals make reservations in the pub, we do our very best to accommodate large groups, however, we need plenty of notice as we do get fully booked.- For parties of 12 we do not have the capacity on busy trading nights ie Friday and Saturday and for them we would offer them the sole use of our Coach House party room for which we do charge a rental fee of £150. We feel that this is fully justified as we offer an entirely private dining room with waitress service and a personal chef!
- We are happy to take group of bookings (in the pub) of up to 12 at lunchtimes & weeknights as we have a greater degree of flexibility - Sunday nights seem to work particularly well with your guests!
The George is only a 15 minute family walk up Millway Lane (paved) from Valley View holiday accommodation and it’s downhill all the way back! (Turn left out of the drive and just start walking into Alstonefield - you shouldn't meet any traffic as the lane after a few strides becomes unsuitable for traffic due to width of lane). Depending on fitness and age you can get to The George from Valley View in 5 or 10 minutes, but with children allow 15 minutes.
